Atelier Joana Vasconcelos

Based in the Alcântara Docks, operating from Lisbon to the world, Joana Vasconcelos Studio employs circa 50 people from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Equipped with production, architecture, communication, financial departments, a workshop and a wellness center, the structure manages and materialises the projects conceived by a renowned visual artist both in Portugal and the globe.

The studio is not open to the public. However, requests for guided tours can be considered on an exceptional basis, subject to booking, availability and interest. Enquiries should be made via e-mail.

Atelier Joana Vasconcelos is part of two other structures directly linked to the artist's work: Fundação Joana Vasconcelos and Corpo Infinito.

Created in 2012 to preserve the artist’s work, Fundação Joana Vasconcelos is a non-profit organisation that supports social causes, collaborates with other institutions in solidarity actions, organises international conferences and encourages the study of arts by awarding scholarships; promoting art for all.

Guided since 2015 by the aim of promoting the well-being of the Atelier Joana Vasconcelos team, Corpo Infinito has been opening its doors to the general public. It’s a space with a multidisciplinary programme that includes holistic therapy, meditation sessions, yoga classes, personalised training, astrology consultations, artistic interventions, lectures and workshops.

Visiting Joana in Lisbon was a revelation in terms of the scale of her studio (…) It is an impressive model for a studio practice and business for the 21st century and she is an exemplary female artist/leader.
