PORTUGAL POP brings together 180 outfits belonging to main cultural figures who have contributed to the collective image of the country for the last 50 years, such as Amália Rodrigues, António Variações, Doce, Heróis do Mar, Joana Vasconcelos, The Gift, Conan Osiris. And the fashion designers who worked with them, in a creative partnership which turned into perfect symbiosis, such as the hugely talented Alexandra Moura, Dino Alves, Filipe Faísca and Storytailors who created remarkable outfits for Joana Vasconcelos. Curated by Bárbara Coutinho, the MUDE exhibition at Casa do Design (Matosinhos, Northern Portugal) allows a privileged insight into the liaison between high culture and popular culture; local and global; city and country life; the legacy of past generations and the vision for the future.
