Bunis

The Bunis joined the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation - Modern Arts Center's (CAM) collection in 2019. Provocative and good-humoured, the original Bunis were made from polystyrene and plaster painted in acrylics in purple, golden, blue, violet and red. Made in 1994 during the drawing course at Ar.Co - Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual, in Lisbon, they also constituted the artist's application for admission to the advanced fine arts course of the same institution. That same year, they were included in the "Manobras de Maio", presented as head sculptures on a catwalk in Rua do Século.

For the CAM collection - Histórias de uma Coleção - they have been replicated in fibre-glass and enamelled. For this exhibition, they are displayed the same way as the originals from 1994: hanging at different heights and in front of a large mirror that allows the viewer to admire their reflection.
